The Story
During his year-long residency at Davis Station, photographer Jared McGhie experienced Antarctica as few ever do - living within Earth's most isolated continent and documenting it through an unwavering photographic vision.
His work reveals Antarctica as a realm of austere majesty where conventional perceptions of time, scale, and colour are fundamentally altered. Working in conditions where temperatures regularly descended below -35 degrees Celsius, McGhie created a meticulously documented visual record spanning complete seasonal transformations.
His images capture the stark beauty of winter's perpetual darkness, summer's ceaseless daylight reflecting across vast ice shelves, endemic wildlife, ethereal atmospheric phenomena, and the precise geometries of natural ice architecture perfected over millennia.
The collection grants viewers privileged access to a pristine laboratory of nature where humanity remains an ephemeral visitor and elemental forces continue to shape existence according to primordial rhythms undisturbed by civilisation.
